A Day at the National Postal Museum

It was blustery and cold on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and we originally were planning on visiting the Pennsylvania Dutch Country but since it was reporting close to 0' with the wind chill, we decided to stay local. Our goal is to see all of the Smithsonian Museums while we are here and we have about 6 left. We decided to visit the National Postal Museum up on Capitol Hill.

Kyle was obviously jumping for joy at not having to pay for parking.

Another heel click for good measure.

The Postal Museum is in, of course, an old post office and it is beautiful!

Stamps for days!

Two of the first U.S. stamps!

Stamps to take home if we wanted!

This dog was adopted as the first unofficial postal mascot but later became a nationwide mascot for 9 years, while traveling from state to state and even around the world.

His name was Owney and I have no idea why.

Mailboxes found around the world.

A neat exhibit on delivering mail during the 18th century.

And THANK GOODNESS we were able to make our own
stamps on the computer! I'm glad we have these gems.

Goodbye 2015

We had a great New Year's Eve. We started out by hitting the Utah slopes that we've missed so much.

We finished up the night with a dance party, watching the boys play another game of Risk, putting together a puzzle, chocolate waffles, and one final nerf gun war!

Sammy was being a real piece of work and got thrown out in the snow because of it.

I played for a little bit but then needed a baby fix so I went up to watch through our window and this selfie was taken.

Love this little nugget.

Goodbye Utah! Thanks for the best Christmas break. Loved this sunrise from the east photo from our airplane.

A Merry Little Christmas

We had an amazing time with my family over Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning. It's always so neat to be with loved ones over the holidays. We were lucky this year because everyone was able to fly out, making it one of the first times since my wedding that we've all been together (minus Bobby who is serving a mission in Germany). Our family is changing so much but it's so fun to see new babies added into the mix.

The whole gang. There's a lot of us but I love it.

I COULD NOT hold this baby enough. He is the sweetest little thing.

Baby Sam and Big Baby Wyatt.

More holding Samuel.

Cutest baby Petey!

Plenty of sugar cookie decorating going on.

Okaaaaay. Here she is. Crack Pie. Talked about from THIS post. And you can go
either HERE or HERE for the recipe. Your taste buds will thank me later.

Every Christmas morning, Kyle and I like to get outside before anyone else has woken up to go for a little jog.
We stop and listen to the stillness of the Christmas morning. It is one of my all time favorite things.

More baby holding!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
